Caravan Park Near Spalding, Lincolnshire
Sutton St. James is a pretty, rural village and nearby market towns include Long Sutton, Holbeach, Wisbech and Spalding. Our location on the banks of the South Holland Drain gives us easy access to fishing, walking and spectacular scenery, nature and wildlife. If you are looking for a peaceful caravan park in the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside, in the heart of the Lincolnshire Fens, then Foreman’s Bridge is worth paying a visit to.
Foreman’s Bridge Caravan park is situated on the banks of the South Holland Main Drain, a fantastic fishing river where everything from eels to carp can be caught. Averaging around 13m wide, this drain is best targeted on the pole, and a number of baits will score well. We sell fishing permits in the office for fishing on the rivers and we can offer our advice of where to fish in the many fisheries, lakes and rivers nearby.
The Lincolnshire Fens
The history of the Fens as a wetland landscape began around 10,000 years ago when rising sea levels caused Britain to become an island. The Fens is a rich agricultural and food-producing area with rich soils and marshy coastline. The area also provides vital natural habitats to many declining species of birds and is home to some of the best bird-watching in England. The Fens has plenty of things to see and do from historic buildings and churches to hiking and biking.
If you like to visit the coast, the Wash is the biggest bay in England running from just south of Skegness to Hunstanton. It is one of the most outstanding coastal wetlands in Europe with its beautiful landscape of salt marshes, mudflats and open water. Large numbers of migrant birds such as grey plovers, dunlins, oystercatchers and godwits arrive in the autumn to feed on the rich foods found in the sands and mudflats. The area is also a breeding ground for Atlantic grey seals.
Make a shopping trip to Spalding or other local market towns and seek out some of the local specialities such as the famous Lincolnshire sausage! Spalding is a charming Georgian town in the Lincolnshire Fens. The town sits on the banks of the River Welland and is known for its impressive flower display. Spalding has 7 bridges, museums, garden centres, wildlife centres and a selection of good cafes, restaurants and pubs to enjoy.
